Sioux City North's two Division I recruits came up big for the Stars against Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

Tanaeya Worden scored 21 points and Jacqui Kalin added 18 to lead the top-ranked Stars past Jefferson 67-52 in the Class 4A quarterfinals. Worden has signed with Southern Illinois and Kalin is headed for Northern Iowa.

Likeisha Dotson pitched in with 12 points for the Stars (23-2), who outscored Jefferson 21-8 in the fourth quarter after clinging to a 46-44 lead at the start of the quarter. Kalin also had six assists and five steals, while Worden had four assists and three steals.

Krista Moser led Jefferson (15-10) with 22 points and eight rebounds. Abby Burger added 16 points for the J-Hawks and Allison Galvin scored 10.

Burger's layup brought Jefferson to within two points at the end of the third quarter, but the J-Hawks would never be that close again. Worden scored inside 22 seconds into the fourth quarter and North went on to score the first 11 points of the period to open a 57-44 lead.

After Moser scored for Jefferson, North went on a 10-2 run to put it out of reach.

North lost in the first round of last year's tournament. Now the Stars are headed for the semifinals against fifth-ranked West Des Moines Valley at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
