The rematch is set in Class 4A.

Cedar Rapids Washington pulled away in the second half to beat Ames 55-44 in the quarterfinals. That sends the third-ranked Warriors into the semifinals on Friday against No. 2 Des Moines Roosevelt, a matchup of the two teams that met in last year's championship game.

   Roosevelt won that game 53-28.

Washington (22-2) used its quickness and a 3-point shooting surge in the third quarter to get past Ames. Kaitlin Oney led the Warriors with 11 points and four steals, while Kaitlin Armstrong added 10 points and four assists.

Trisha Nesbitt led Ames (19-5) with 15 points. Alex McGrory scored eight for the Little Cyclones.

Washington took control with an 11-2 third-quarter run that erased a 23-22 Ames lead. Armstrong, Oney and Whitley Tate each hit a 3 in that stretch as the Warriors went up 33-25. They had made only one 3-pointer before that.

Ames kept within striking distance after that but never got closer than four. After Ames drew to 42-35 on Jayne Strand's inside basket, Washington sank six straight free throws to stretch the lead to 13.

Washington is in the semifinals for the third straight year. The Warriors lost to Ankeny in the 2005 championship game.
