Lawton-Bronson pulled off the first upset of the state tournament.

Katie Sorensen made a key defensive play in the final minute to help Lawton-Bronson beat sixth-ranked Guthrie Center 54-47 to reach the Class 1A semifinals.

After the two teams went back and forth throughout the fourth quarter, Lawton-Bronson's Brooke Williams got free for a layup to put the Eagles ahead to stay at 49-47 with 1:23 left.

Sorensen came through a minute later, intercepting a pass and feeding Williams for layup that made it 51-47. Mandy Wagner then sank three free throws to wrap it up for the Eagles (20-5), who are in the state tournament for the first time.

Wagner led Lawton-Bronson with 20 points, including 3-for-3 shooting from 3-point range. Alyssa Brockhaus and Williams each scored nine for the Eagles.

Andrea Clark led Guthrie Center (23-3) with 20 points and 14 rebounds. Kaitlin Rosenbeck added 12 points for the Tigers.

Guthrie Center rallied after trailing by nine points in the second half. The Tigers grabbed a one-point lead early in the fourth quarter and it was tied twice, the last time at 47 when Guthrie's Jordan Waddell hit a 3-pointer with 1:35 to play.

Williams then scored for Lawton-Bronson and the Tigers pulled away. They'll play top-ranked IKM in the semifinals Wednesday night.
