Twin
River Valley came into the girls state basketball tournament as the only
unbeaten team in Class 1A. The fourth-ranked Thunder are still perfect after
beating Central Decatur 41-25 Monday to reach the semifinals.
The
winners got another strong game from Liz Trauger, who led the way with 18
points and 13 rebounds. Trauger now has 2,098 points in her career.
Kennedy
Bollmeyer added 10 points and five rebounds for the Thunder, who are now 26-0.
This is the first trip to state for Twin River Valley. Bode made four
appearances in the six-player tournament.
Central
Decatur finishes a memorable season with a 20-6 record. The Cardinals played at
state for the first time after earning their trip with a thrilling
three-overtime victory over Murray in the regional final.
Tiara
Smith led the Cardinals with nine points and Morgan Bethards scored five.
Callan Bethards, Taylor Smith and Sara Lincoln each grabbed three rebounds for
Central Decatur and Taylor Smith had three assists.
Twin
River Valley's next game is 6:30 p.m. Wednesday against No. 1-ranked IKM.
