MFL-Mar-Mac now needs just one more victory to complete a perfect season.

The second-ranked Bulldogs, who have no seniors in the starting lineup and only one on the roster, advanced to the Class 2A championship game with a 51-43 victory over No. 11 Manson-Northwest Webster on Thursday.

MFL-Mar-Mac improved to 27-0 and will seek the program's first state title at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Sophomore Chelsey Lamker led the way for the Bulldogs with a strong game: 17 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Emily Blietz added nine points and nine rebounds, while Melissa Moon and Whitney Wubbena each scored eight.

Manson-Northwest Webster finishes with a 25-3 record. Mika Rodewald led the Cougars with 18 points and eight rebounds. Teammate Morgan Throshynski scored eight points.

The Cougars might be heard from again next season because they also have only one senior.

MFL-Mar-Mac went ahead to stay by scoring the first seven points of the second quarter for a 17-12 lead.

The Bulldogs then had to fight off Manson-Northwest Webster the rest of the way because the Cougars never gave up. They never trailed by more than six until MFL-Mar-Mac pulled away in the final four minutes.

Leading 41-37, MFL-Mar-Mac scored the next seven points to finally get some breathing room. After Lamker sank a free throw, Blietz scored inside and hit a baseline jumper. Another free throw by Lamker and one by Blietz completed the run, making it 48-37 with 38.9 seconds left.
